The Issue:

AAPIs have been a part of America for well over 100 years. Their contribution to America becoming the greatest nation in the world is no secret. However, it is not well told and barely, selectively remembered. In recent years, Asian-Americans have become target of unprecedented racial discrimination, bigotry and xenophobia, especially during the COVID pandemic. Media coverage on the injustice towards Asian-Americans have been dismal, especially when compared to other movements such as BLM. Actions to counter Asian-hate has been slow and politically motivated for many opportunists. Bottom line is that Asian-Americans are not heard and not seen enough to enact change in people, even some AAPIs. There is a distinct need for a powerful, resourceful, and unified voice for AAPIs. Media is still the most powerful and effective way to reach people with information and encouragement. But such media must be well-honed and focus must remain consistent - and unwavering.

The Solution:

AAX Media, without compromising its original values and keeping with its mission, has been on-air for more than a year, airing unprecedented contents about AAPI to America. AAX provided the platform for the first Pacific Islander radio programming to air on an full-time radio station for over a year. Community based organizations for AAPIs were given promotion and interviews showcasing their efforts and struggles within the local communities to empower and support the AAPI population. AAPI politicians were given airtime to discuss their goals and political directions before the election. Uniform messages from various nonprofit organizations were disseminated via talk shows, PSAs (video and audio) and promotions to fight racism and Asian-hate. AAX became the megaphone for those AAPIs who were not afforded the opportunity to be heard to encourage racial equality. AAX, with no outside funding due to the COVID crisis, carried its mission for over a year.
