The Issue:

There’s no denying that the creative industry is still a work in progress when it comes to diversity. Only 11.4% of industry jobs are filled by black, Asian, and minority ethnic people, and just 11.5% of creatives in the US are women. Within the last four years, our community members have continued to grow and seek creative resources to help them succeed in the creative industry and build their careers. There are two major creative groups: creatives looking to work for corporations and creatives looking to become independent self-employees. Creatives looking for jobs need more resources to get advice and improve their portfolios. Creatives that already work for Fortune 500 companies looking to break corporate ceilings and share their creative journey. The second creative group looked to build their own business, sell their artwork and craft, and create products with limited exposure and cultural reference. As the creator economy continues to grow, there are also many young AAPI individuals looking to transition to the creative industry. They have limited knowledge and limited advice from family and friends that can provide pointers and resources to step into the creative world.
