The Issue:

The entertainment industry has seen improvement in regards to better supporting Asian American audiences with more films and television series that feature Asian talent. But much work remains, yet the industry can still move more rapidly but chooses to move at a more cautious pace. We see an issue with the gap in marketing and promotional buzz for these films that do not yet fully engage all audiences as larger, tentpole properties tend to receive. Asian audiences can be too critical or cynical of these films that could represent them, but they are likely to not watch as a result of their presumptions. And non-Asian audiences may gloss over these films, assuming that it is meant for them.

The Solution:

Our approach to addressing these issues is to produce engaging, relevant, and captivating content that supports the media we want to see succeed. Our content will be targeted to the platforms that the demographics we want to engage are active on - primarily TikTok followed by Instagram and YouTube. Through our team members' experiences and identities, we discuss topics of interest that also intersect with our unique voices to craft content that is genuine and sets us apart from other media outlets. We've turned our interviews with leading actors and actresses in films such as Snake Eyes' Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, and Haruka Abe into media pieces that not only live on TikTok, but also Instagram, YouTube, and website articles. Content that does not rely on connecting with talent includes sharing reviews, lists, byte-sized what-you-need-to-know type videos.
