The Issue:

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, local businesses and artists in the Bay Area were greatly affected from lack of sales, uptick of racism, and racial attacks within the Asian communities. We know that businesses for creatives for artists and creatives were hurt greatly from the pandemic as networks push away gig contract work, such as creative services, to a much less of a priority.

The Solution:

We want to revive an existing video web series to support local businesses and creatives. Originally this web series was to promote our local performers from our artist network and it has gained traction to landing more interviews with known entrepreneurs and professional creatives like Andrew Chau of Boba Guys, Simu Liu, and Jimmy Wong. Our organization at Kollaboration San Francisco wants to expand this series to create more engaging and relative conversations with our local artists and having these conversations at local businesses and restaurants. This grant will support funding for location permits, equipment expenses like cameras and audio, and proceeds will go to artists/creatives and businesses participating in the series. This series will cover topics such as mental health in the Asian Pacific Islander families, history of Asian Americans in the United States, and solutions to take action during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
