Project by Project
For 25 years, Project by Project has been building AAPI Leaders while supporting local AAPI nonprofits and the hospitality industry. We've established relationships with AAPI organizations and understand the challenges they face as funds continue to be diverted to other organizations. We've been bringing to light social causes that are often stigmatized to the AAPI community and amplifying the causes through our 100% volunteer led steering committee. We've seen how often people, community members, workplaces, and our family and friends do not see these issues impacting the AAPI community. We understand how important it is to continue to amplify these social causes and to rally the community to support local AAPI organizations - through advocacy, volunteerism, and fundraising Through volunteering, pro bono consulting, and advocacy, Project by Project (PbP) has delivered nearly $1,000,000 in monetary impact and over 50,000 annual hours in human capital to Asian American communities. We've educated, fundraised, and advocated for a wide variety of social causes such as Arts and Education, Immigration, Housing and Homelessness, Domestic Violence, Voter Turnout, and the Environment. With our 25th anniversary, we are discovering that past partnering organizations have shuttered their doors due to funding. We've learned how critical volunteers are to the success of these local organizations in providing access to care and resources. We've helped partnering AAPI organizations understand the importance of building out long-term, sustainable solutions through our pro-bono consulting team. We've been able to break stereotypes and stigma's around critical social causes that impact our organization. We've helped local minority owned businesses market their establishments. We've built a network of AAPI leaders who've gained the skills and confidence to lead other organizations, move into leadership roles, or start their own companies.
About the Organization:
$100,000 - $500,000
Despite Asian Americans being the fastest growing population in the US, Asian Americans continue to be the least represented in leadership roles in corporate America, nonprofit funding, film, entertainment, and so much more. By raising awareness and providing volunteer opportunities and funds to social causes in the AAPI community, Project by Project continues to draw much needed attention and funding to organizations and causes during a time where an unprecedented number of hate crimes are impacting the community and critical funds are being removed from AAPI organizations. The pandemic in 2020 also brought to light the lack of support AAPI and minority owned small businesses and the hospitality industry received to stay afloat. Realizing that the hospitality industry has been critical to our organizations success, we've additionally built out programming and funding to help support AAPI and minority owned restaurants and bars.
Through our year-long, 100% volunteer led programming, Project by Project continues to equip young AAPI's with leadership and philanthropy opportunities during a time where representation matters - both inside and outside of the workplace. Our volunteer Steering Committee develops real life marketable skills in our 6 teams - helping market, lead, develop, plan and fundraise for our community partners while gaining confidence to move into new roles in the workplace. Since its founding, Project by Project has delivered over $1,000,000 in funds and over 50,000 hours in human capital to Asian American communities. Each year, PbP selects a campaign theme and partners with a local nonprofit beneficiary organization to raise awareness and funds for under-served causes for the AAPI community. In the past 25 years, we've partnered with Asian American organizations that are leaders in providing services for Domestic Violence (2002), Homelessness (2019), Human Trafficking (2005), Health Care (2010), Education (2011), LGBTQ (2016), Mental Health (2014), Civic Engagement (2020), and the Environment (2021). We've seen the importance of raising awareness and funds for these issues. We continue to be one of the only organizations continuing to spotlight and fundraise for social causes that impact the AAPI community while supporting local minority owned small businesses through our signature Annual Tasting Benefit, Plate by Plate.
