The Issue:

Smiles of Wisdom, Inc. (SOW) is financially challenged as it seeks to serve disenfranchised women, care for orphan children, and promote forestation to restore and sustain the ecosystem. SOW needs to build a warehouse to expand its agroecology projects to facilitate a humane way of life for more disenfranchised women; plant more fruit and other trees to upgrade the ecosystem. Additionally, SOW needs to enable these families to access solar-powered means to engage them in globalization. Solar-powered means include and are not limited to appliances for cooking to prevent tree cutting; electricity for typical day-to-day functioning; electronics (computers/laptops/internet) to build a dorm to care for and educate more orphan children and prevent childhood sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. Further, SOW needs to replicate these projects in other towns and communities to curtail the persistent poverty and uplift these families. Even though these projects exist on a small scale, these projects provide hope for disenfranchised families. They are making a difference in the lives of the disenfranchised who currently participate in them. The agroecological project started in 2021 and has over two hundred women who lives has changed tremendously. Also, we planted five hundred fruits through this project to date. SOW cannot honor all the families, over one thousand, who are waitlisted and impatiently awaiting to join these projects to quench their poverty. It costs two hundred US dollars to enroll each woman. Currently, we have an estimate of eighty thousand US dollars to build the warehouse. We are doing fundraisers to raise the money and it does not look promising with everything that is costly now. Hopefully, this grant can assist us in uplifting the lives of these disenfranchised families who rely on SOW to make it happen.

The Solution:

Smiles of Wisdom (SOW) projects include and are not limited to academic and social services, mental health, ecology, entreneurship, agroecology, orphan children sponsorship, good distribution. Activities- SOW distributes backpacks with school supplies to schools in the community at the end of the summer for the new school year; SOW hosts financial literacy webinar for youths and provides them with piggy banks to save; SOW hosts mental health first aid for adults and young adults; engages youths in ecologycal activities (planting trees); advocates on behalf of special needs children; advocates for sexually abused young women; facilitates quality time for elderly; and provides academic tutoring. In addition, SOW mentors disenfranchised women to start a business of their choice; provides each woman a start up cost of two hundred dollars and a fruit tree of ther choosing to engage in entrepreneurship;the women repay the two hundred dollar in monthly installments of twenty dollar; SOW passes the repayment down to other disenfranchised; cares for orphan children; advocates for their rights to be.
