TeachAAPI (TAP) was founded by parents who came together in response to the aggressions toward the AAPI community, triggered by the onset of COVID-19. We believe that a change in perception is needed as it relates to Asian Americans and it needs to start early on in the education and social systems. By bringing together a group of accomplished board members and educators, we have developed innovative methods to get curriculum, Asian Arts and Culture in front of nearly 15,000 students in over 30 states since inception. Our vision is for our next generation of Americans to innately envision AAPI cultures, peoples, and stories as a part of America. Our mission is to weave Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences into our collective identity as Americans. Our mission statement is that we work to shape a more inclusive future for America by providing relevant, immersive, and shelf-ready resources to parents, educators, students, and community members, empowering them to foster awareness and inclusivity. Our programs are forward-looking, multifaceted and experiential, celebrating the strength, diversity and value of the AAPI community: Our work connects AAPI children to their roots strengthening pride and self-advocacy, and sharing our stories beyond our community broadens perspectives, builds connections and generates allyship to drive systemic change. Our values are what connects us at the deepest level and shape who we are and how we serve. - Inclusive at our core - Belief in self advocacy - Empathetic & Compassionate - Challenger Mentality
About the Organization:
$100,000 - $500,000
It is known in our community that there is a lack of AAPI representation and cultural education in schools. Our unique programming aims to provide early exposure and education in schools. These experiential programs are designed to be immersive, relatable and empathetic, and we strive to deliver long-lasting and broad-reaching impact. We aim to continue developing programs that raise celebration and understanding in our community of our historical and current contributions along with our significance in American history. The immediate need is for practical solutions that offer parents and teachers a way to initiate and implement AAPI programming within their school’s curriculum and DEI programming. TeachAAPI has partnered with leading schools and arts institutions to develop proprietary curriculum and engaging programming to build connections between all students. The broader goal is to provide meaningful solutions to fight the invisibility, injustice, and misinformation towards the AAPI community. TeachAAPI serves all students, not just AAPI students, to build bridges of understanding and mutual appreciation between cultures.
Empowering the next generation of game-changers through education, community, pride, and identity. We are committed to diversifying the single stories of AAPIs for all children to build identity, empathy, and perspective . Pride in identity is foundational to shaping successful future leaders, creators and innovators. Our TeachAAPI programs are forward-looking, multifaceted and experiential, celebrating the strength, diversity and value of the AAPI communities of past and present. Our work connects AAPI children to their roots at a profound level, strengthening pride, and self-advocacy Sharing our stories with children of all backgrounds b roadens perspectives, builds connections, and generates allyship to drive systemic change Early exposure to AAPI histories and diversity of experiences is the key focus in our offerings: 1. Digital Programming for maximum reach (arts, culture, entertainment, learning & development) 2. “Classroom Ready” Curriculum 3. Immersive Cultural Programs for the Community Additionally, our proprietary ‘Last Mile’ approach solves the unmet needs of immediate access and sustained impact. Whether it’s virtually at home, in school, or out on field trips, we collaborate with partners to accelerate and deeply integrate AAPI learning into all classrooms, schools, and communities. The idea is to be a trusted source for teachers to supplement with “shelf ready” lesson plans that can be easily implemented into the curriculum. Our programs are forward-looking, multifaceted and experiential, celebrating the strength, diversity and value of the AAPI community. Not only does work connect AAPI children to their roots strengthening pride and self-advocacy, but sharing our stories beyond our community broadens perspectives, builds connections and generates allyship to drive systemic change. Lastly, we wanted to share one of our signature programs that's currently in exploration phase. The idea to develop an in-person half day summit with founders/experts to inspire and bring visibility to young adults from High School up through College. Agenda would include: Moderated Career Panel Live Q&A session Workshop/Breakout sessions Networking/Reception Market Booths featuring other Asian Founded brands Merch/swag/marketing materials Resource sharing (digital toolkit, subscription access, leadership books) Mentorship Program (post-event)
